Channeling Reiki Energy

I was prompted to write this short article after viewing a "Reiki" website I came across a few days ago while  carrying out some research and I was quite surprised to read something like " after carrying out a Reiki treatment our practitioner is sometimes exhausted or drained of energy etc". To be honest this quite surprised me and having pondered on it I decided to put my thoughts into words.

Reiki is a universal energy which one can use for self healing and for healing others after being attuned to Reiki level 1.
After being attuned to Reiki level 2 which we are told attunes our energy channeling to a different frequency we are able to send distant healing and
we normally learn 3 of the Reiki symbols.
Attunement to Reiki level 3 fine tunes our energies which we are able to channel and we learn the "Master"symbol. After this attunement we are able to attune others to the Reiki energies.

When carrying out a Reiki Treatment or Healing as it is often called we should not be using our own energy as we are  acting as a conduit or vessel for channeling the Reiki energy to the person we are treating. Some refer to themselves as healers but we are not healers, we are channeling  Reiki energy to balance the persons energy system and kickstart (for want of a better word) the persons own internal healing system into action. During a treatment as we are channeling energy we can also benefit from the treatment along with the person receiving the treatment.
From my way of thinking and from what I was taught during training and have found out by practice we do not use our own energy  but are acting as a channel for the Reiki energy used for the treatment so we should not be exhausted.

If we do find ourselves tired or drained after carrying out a treatment there could be 2 (or maybe more) possible reasons:

1. We are using our own energy as is done with Qigong and some other healing modalities

2. We are not grounded sufficiently

It is always advisable to ensure we are grounded before carrying out a treatment and there are a number of ways to do this which will be covered in a later article.
